How to Sign “Camel” in ASL

To sign camel in ASL, hold your dominant hand slightly bent, palm down, in front of your chest. Raise it in an arc up toward your face and bring it back down, then do it a second time. The two arcs trace a camel's two humps.

How to sign it

  1. Handshape: a flat hand with the fingers together and slightly bent.

  2. Location: in front of your chest, rising to about face height.

  3. Movement: make two arcs, up and down and up and down, like two humps.

  4. Palm orientation: the palm faces down as the hand rises and falls.
